Ronald L. Atkins, 79, of Clarence, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, at Clarence Methodist Church in Clarence. Memorials may be made to the Clarence United Methodist Church or the Clarence Ambulance Association in his memory. Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, at Clarence Methodist Church in Clarence, with Pastor Carol Mart officiating. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.

Ronald LaVern Atkins was born November 22, 1934, in Tipton, the son of Darrell and Mary (Hodson) Atkins. He married Corrinne Louise Bachman on December 26, 1954, in Clarence. He was a past member of the Jaycees, a member of the I.O.O.F., Clarence United Methodist Church and the brown mug club. His enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, softball, bowling, golf and big band era music.

Surviving are his wife, Corrinne; two daughters, Ann (Cary) Branch of Dallas, TX; and Arlene (Steve) Lyon of Olin; one son, Robin (Tara Lynne) Atkins of Clarence; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Maurine Atkins, his step-father, Robert Holladay and one sister, Barbara Keehn.
