Joshuah Steven "Lank" Lankford, 33, of Decatur, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, in Decatur.
Josh was born Nov. 11, 1980, in Wheaton, Illinois, the son of Everett "Leon" Lankford and Laura Magruder. He graduated from Warrensburg-Latham. He proudly served his country in U.S. Army A Company 1/41 Infantry serving two tours in Iraq.
He was previously employed with Petty’s and Caterpillar and was currently working as a steel erector with TUI Contracting.
He loved his pets, fishing, outdoors, camping, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Josh had a great sense of humor and loved to make others laugh.
He leaves behind his parents Everett "Leon" Lankford of Effingham and Laura and Scott Magruder of Decatur; maternal grandparents, Joann and Dennis Marshinski; paternal stepgrandmother, Carol Sue Lankford of Effingham; sisters, Alisha Musgrave and Emily Stowell; brother, Scott Magruder; nephew, David Chalmers; niece, Mackenzie Chalmers; and Afroman his loving lab.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Noah Alonzo "Lonnie" Lankford and Mary Ellen and Ray Oldham; and uncle, Steve Marshinski
Services to celebrate Josh’s life were held Aug. 17 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.
Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home.
Private burial with military honors was held Aug. 18 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Veteran Mental Health Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
