Edna Myrle (Robertson) Hawkins was born on June 28, 1923 in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Grover "Jack" Robertson (1893-1974) and Amelia Adelaide "Ada" (Witzel) Robertson (1893-1979).

She was married about March 1942 to Winford "Odel" Hawkins (1922-2014), the son of Robert Lee Hawkins (1900-1956) and his wife Zella Ethel (West) Hawkins (1900-2001).

Edna attended Cottonwood Elementary School, a one room school house, where in the 2nd grade, she met Winford "Odell" Hawkins (1922-2014), who was the son of Robert Lee Hawkins and Zella Ethel (West) Hawkins, AND he was the love of her life.

She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1940 and attended college, while Odell enlisted in the US Air Force in early 1942 and they were married on March 22nd of that year.

In 1946 they settled in Skiatook, Oklahoma to farm and start a family. The life insurance business moved them to Texas and Arkansas where she continued her homemaking and family career. Being a hands-on mother came easy with A+ homemaking skills and she was a great hostess and entertainer.

Edna had a quick wit and could tell a joke on any subject. She will always be remembered for her love of good cooking, a sweet treat every day, sewing, crocheting, knitting, going to church, teaching immigrants to speak English, playing scrabble, solving crossword puzzles and reading.

For many years every weekend, she entertained on her North Texas ranch by horseback riding, fishing and barbecuing. A favorite vacation spot was Red River, New Mexico where memories were created as family gathered to laugh and play together.

Edna was 88 years old when she passed away on September 23, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee, due to complications of a stroke.

Survivors included three daughters and their husbands; seven grandsons; a granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; a sister and a married brother.

Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
