GASTONIA ~ Walter Tate Jr., 71, was a son of the late Waddell Tate and Sarah Mason Tate. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Tate Harrison and brother-in-law, Willie Lee Woods.
Walter was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina where he devoted his time to the Golden Year Seniors, Trustee Board, Men of Distinction Choir and a member of the Sanctuary. He was a lifetime member of the Oakridge Motorcycle Club in Clover, South Carolina where he traveled tirelessly to many states. After forty-three years of hard work in textiles, he retired as a Card Overhauler at Galey & Lord Flint Plant, Gastonia, North Carolina. Walter loved car races at the Carolina Speedway, Lawnmower Races at the Phatbottom Speedway in York, South Carolina, his lawn care service, show casing his motorcycles at various motorcycle events and working tirelessly for Tate Janitorial Service.
Interment in Gaston Memorial Park.
