Flight Officer BENJAMIN BLAKE DUTTON, son of Dr. and Mrs. M. William Dutton, 1039 Hamilton Blvd., was killed Saturday when his twin-engined fighter plane crashed on combat training maneuvers 25 miles north of Santa Maria, California. His parents were notified yesterday.

Flight Officer Dutton, who was 21, was stationed at an air base near Santa Maria for fighter pilot training. A graduate of Hagerstown High School, he entered the Army in February 1943. After receiving training at Miami, Fl., Santa Anna, Ca., and Chandler, Az., he had been stationed at a number of bases in Washington and California for further training. He received his wings on June 22, 1944, and one month later married the former Miss Georgina Anderson, Santa Anna, Ca. A member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Flight Officer Dutton was employed in the experimental department of Fairchild Aircraft here before entering the service.

Surviving, besides widow and parents is one brother, Ensign Mark William Dutton, Oahu, Hawaii. The widow will accompany the body to Hagerstown.
