She was born in Griffithville, Arkansas on May 7, 1932, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Pickard and Mary Stitt Pickard.

Following high school graduation, Miss Bobbie Claire Pickard married Mr. Norris Edwin “Bill” West on July 7, 1950 at Kensett, AR. The couple made their home in Newport in 1964 where they raised their children, worked, enjoyed friends and family, and being a part of the community and the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. West worked at Harris Hospital for 25 years. She began her career as a nurse’s aid and after becoming certified was promoted to Head of Housekeeping and later worked in Materials and Management. Although she retired in the 1990’s, her abundant energy and caring spirit led her to care for the elderly in their home for several years. She and her husband, Bill, moved to Rogers in 2009 to be close to their daughter and her family. After moving to Rogers they became members of the Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. West was the kind of lady that never met a stranger. She was known by her sweet smile and kind and content disposition. Mrs. West enjoyed being outside, she loved spending time with her family at the lake and the beach. Mrs. West’s greatest love was her family. She lovingly cared for her parents until their death. Mrs. West was always available for her children and grandchildren. She was their biggest fan, attending her grandsons’ ballgames, watching her granddaughter cheer, and going to her granddaughters’ dance recitals. Mrs. West was lovingly named “Granny Bob” by her grandchildren. She will be remembered always for her kind and generous spirit and for her great love and dedication to family.

Mrs. West is survived by her husband of 64 years, Norris Edwin “Bill” West of Rogers; her daughter, Mary Alyce Madden, and husband, Harold, of Rogers, her son, Tom West, and wife, Karon, of Madison, Mississippi; four grand-children, Courtney Ogden and husband, Levon, and Josh Madden all of Fayetteville, Amy West and Tommy West both of Madison, Mississippi, and a lifetime of friends.
