YORK Leroy Gary Calhoun, 76, entered into rest on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was the husband of Phyllis L. (Armstrong) Calhoun, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage. Leroy was born on August 16, 1938, to the late George and Julia (Sease) Calhoun. Leroy was affectionately known as Lee or Mr. Lee. Lee was a veteran of the United States Army and he was a truck driver for York Waste Disposal. Some of his hobbies included, but were not limited to, hunting, bowling, washing and waxing his vehicles, and spending time with his family. In addition to his loving and caring wife, Phyllis, he leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Todd Calhoun, Louis Calhoun, Gary Calhoun (Yesika-significant other), and Shawn Calhoun (Lonja); four daughters, Mary Calhoun, Marion Calhoun (Willie), Julia Sanders, and Charlene Seals; a brother, John Calhoun; 43 grand and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other family members and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George "Pickle" Calhoun, Jr., Herbert "Eggball" Calhoun, and Curtis Calhoun; a sister, Betty Hopkins; and two grandchildren, Juwan Howard and Dominique Scott. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 629 S. Pershing Ave., York 17401 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Kearse officiating. A viewing will be prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Boulding Mortuary Inc. is handling arrangements. www.bouldingmortuaryinc.com
