Louis was born in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Stasie (Jaska) and Louis R. Janek Sr. He attended St. Mary's School and was a 1969 graduate of West High School. Louis received an Associate's Degree in Arts from Hill Jr. College in 1971, prior to attending Southwestern State University in San Marcos. He was a rural mail carrier for the West Post Office for 26 years before retiring in June of 2008. He also operated the Alamo Garage in West for many years. Louis was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 and the U.S. Postal Service Union. Louis enjoyed visiting with friends, watching westerns, and reading about Texas History. He traveled the southwestern states with his mother and cousins, Gayle and Margaret Kennedy. They especially loved going to places that he read about and to Arizona and Chimayo, New Mexico.
Survivors include son, Jason Janek, of West; daughter, Kim Sustala and husband, Phil, of Abbott; grandsons, Riley and Seth Sustala; brothers, Bobby Joe Janek and Jonathan Janek and wife, Susan; sisters: Nica Eckols and husband, Shelby, Stasie Cocek and husband, Buddy, Stephanie "Tappy" Vanek and husband, Allen; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives, including his special cousins, Margaret and Gayle Kennedy, and friends.
