Maurice Allen Taylor was born on July 24, 1926, in Panola County to the late Clarence Allen and Georgia Edge Taylor. He attended Carthage schools and then joined the U.S. Army where he served proudly during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Taylor married Hazel Maxine Lambert on March 16, 1950, in Orange and she preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2012. He worked as a production specialist for DuPont Chemical in Orange for over 37 years until his retirement. Mr. Taylor and his wife were Baptist Missionaries and served in the countries of Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina in South America and also in Mexico. While in Orange, he was a member of the Cove Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor moved to Carthage in 1992, and became a member of the Old Center Baptist Church and later the Southside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Bill Taylor and two sisters, Joyce Head and Deanna Hooker.
Mr. Taylor is survived by two sons, Bruce Allen Taylor and wife Geri of Mont Belvieu and Paul Taylor and wife Ronda of Carthage; brother, Jesse Taylor and wife Lynn of Baytown; sister, Charlcie Turner and husband Patrick of Longview; brother-in-law, Wayne Lambert and wife Linda of Rosenburg; five grandchildren, Hunter Allen Taylor and wife Brittany, Alyse Allen, Christina Allen Fulsom, Hannah June Taylor, and Sydnee Jordan Taylor; and three great-grandchildren, Landon Lane LaGrone, Kali Rayne Fulsom, and Avery Grace Prudhomme.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mr. Taylor to the Woods New Hope Baptist Church, P.O Box 670, Tenaha, TX 75974.
