Julia M. Pope, 91, of Davenport, IA, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center – West Campus, Davenport, IA.

A private family graveside service will be held. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Julia was born on September 12, 1922, in Crockett, TX, the daughter of George and Etha Brooks Langham. She was a former student of Sam Houston State Teacher’s College. She married Edward Carl Pope on September 26, 1945, in San Antonio, TX, and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2001.

Julia worked as a secretary at Allendale for the Board of Education for Moline. She and her husband, Ed, were early members of Harrison Gospel Chapel which is now High Point Bible Chapel in Davenport. She was an avid tole painter and enjoyed rosemaling. She also enjoyed sewing and smocking. Julia loved playing Dominos and was a trophy winning Texas 42 domino player. More than anything, her greatest joy in life was her 3 sons and her grandchildren.
