The Munden Press, May 25, 1911

St. Clair Dovel was born in Page county, Virginia, March 3, 1823, and died at his home near Munden, Kansas, May 15, 1911, aged 99 years, 1 month and 12 days.

He was united in marriage to Catherine Dovel June 30, 1850, to which union nine children were born, eight of whom survive him.

He moved to Nemaha county, Nebraska, in March, 1877, where he resided until 1883, when he came to Republic county where he since resided. In 1854 he united with the Brethren church in which he remained an active faithful member until his death.

He leaves a wife, five sons, three daughters, twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn.

St. Clair Dovel
Another of Republic county's oldest citizens passed away late Monday night. St. Clair Dovel aged 88 years, living northeast of Munden, died from old age. Mr. Dovel is a native of Virginia, but has lived in the county for a number of years. He is wealthy and has a fine farm near Munden.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, C. F. Daggett of the Dunkard church will have charge of the service. Burial will be made in the Ida cemetery. Mr. Dovel leaves a wife and large family.
