Hazel Chestnutt Dunn, age 84, died Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Harriet Goodman Chestnutt and mother of the late Ronald Dunn.
A service to celebrate Hazel's life will be held Friday at 3:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rooty Branch Church Cemetery. Family members will greet friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Donald and Cindy Dunn of Winterville, Scott and Bobbie Dunn of Ayden; her daughter and son in law, Gail and Robert Plaisance of Durham; six grandchildren, Billy Dunn, Wendy Peterson, Abby Eason, Robert Mercer, III, Brandon Umphlett, and Freddy Dunn; and ten great grandchildren.
