Fern was born September 2, 1917 to Charles and Ethel Hawkins Freckleton in Eureka, Utah. She passed away August 7, 2006.
Fern married Clinton Albert Gundersen, December 19, 1936. Their union lasted almost 66 years. She was a loving and devoted wife. They spent many happy years in Mackay, Idaho raising their family. When they moved back to Utah she spent her time raising her family and working as secretary to renowned heart specialist, Russel M. Nelson at LDS Hospital and later at the U of U Artificial Heart Research Center.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a member she held many positions in the Mackay Ward influencing the young and old with her wisdom and musical talents. She was an accomplished organist and published poet. She spent many happy days at this time in her life fishing the Lost River in Mackay and later in her life with her grandson, Steven. The time she spent with her grandchildren, Ginger, Steven and Rob she loved and cherished.
Fern is survived by her sisters, Louise Corbin and Thelma McCarren; daughter, Linda (John) Lake; son, Randy (Debbie) Gundersen and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she always managed to love and care for.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 11th, 1:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road, with a viewing one hour prior to services in the mortuary.
