DELBY, Eldridge Gary Sr., 56, of Ivanhoe, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, April 18, 2002. He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late Eldridge Garnett and Ethel Lee Blevins Delby. He attended Forest United Methodist Church and was a member of the IVA Lodge #173, I.O.O.F and Past Noble Grand. He was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Delby and two sisters, Coleen Midkiff and Betty Hodges. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Thompson of Pulaski, Va., Daree Delby of Roanoke, Va.; three sons and daughter-in-law, Gary, Jr. "Hoonie" and Missy Delby of Max Meadows, Va., Lamarr Delby and fiance, Terri Newman, Jason Delby and fiance, Michelle Jamison, all of Roanoke, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Olivia and Howard Taylor of Ivanhoe, Va.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Rhonda Delby of Fries, Va., Freddie Delby of Hillsville, Va.; special friend, Shirley Porter; special nephew, Scott Delby; seven grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Crockett and the Rev. Ruth Anne Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. IVA Lodge #173, I.O.O.F. will conduct a memorial service Saturday at 7 p.m. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the IVA Lodge #173, I.O.O.F., Ivanhoe, Va. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
