Jesse R. Mitchell, 66, of Williamsport, died on Aug. 16, 2014, at ManorCare South.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1948, in Greenville, N.C., and was the son of John Cox and Katherine Mitchell.
Jesse worked for Aramark at Divine Providence Hospital as a custodian.
He is survived by his mother,
Katherine Mitchell;
two sons,
Otis Hardy, of Creedmoor, N.C.,
Derrick Mitchell, of Greenville, N.C.;
four daughters,
Tamala (Napoleon) Elbert, of Wake Forest, N.C.,
Tasha Mitchell, of Greenville, N.C.,
Taanalea Kennedy, of Liberty, N.C.,
Jesse Mitchell, of Liberty, N.C.;
four brothers,
Larry Ward, of Greenville, N.C.,
Ronnie Cox, of North Carolina,
Leonard Cox,
Steve Cox;
six sisters,
Carolyn Daniels, of North Carolina,
Betty Lewis, of Virginia,
Evelyn Becton, of North Carolina,
Shirley Cox, of North Carolina,
Edna Cox, of North Carolina,
Elene Cox, of North Carolina;
17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Donald Hodges; brothers, James Mitchell and Dennis Cox; and a sister, Mary Mitchell.
Jesse enjoyed fishing.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014,
at Kaufman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.,
2102 Northway Road, Williamsport.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
