Mr. Pierce was born February 8, 1916 in Bridgeton, New Jersey to the late Anthony and Louie R. Pierce.
He had worked as a heavy duty tractor trailer driver for the Lahn Transportation Company, in Bridgeton, NJ. Mr. Pierce served in the United States Army from 1944 till 1946, where he was stationed in the Philippine Islands and the South Pacific. After the military he moved to Philadelphia and went to school at the Philadelphia Institute of Electricity, during which he met and married Nancy R. Mosley of Milford, DE. Mr. Pierce then went to work at the Philadelphia Naval Yard as an electrician. He left the shipyard to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital as an electrician retiring in 1978 as chief electrician. Mr. Pierce was a member of the Lenni-Lenape Indians of Bridgeton, New Jersey.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy February 26, 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Pierce of Philadelphia and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 12PM, Friday, August 22, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in the Immanuel United Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery, PO Box 309, Cheswold, DE 19936.
