Sheriff Bradford Died Monday Night

Foard County Sheriff W. F. (Shootie) Bradford, 58, died in the Foard County Hospital early Monday night after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the First Baptist Church in Crowell with Rev. Glenn Wilson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. M. H. Abbott, Crowell Methodist pastor, and Rev. E. H. Martin, Margaret Methodist pastor. Interment was in the Crowell Cemetery with Womack Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were Highway Patrolman F. E. Johnson of Paducah; Highway Patrolman Eldon Thane..; Game Warden Jackie Young of Haskell, Texas Ranger Homer T. Melton of Benjamin; and J. T. Brooks, George Scott, Ray Hysinger and Earl Ingle of Crowell.

Mr. Bradford had served as Foard County Sheriff for the past two years.

Born July 28, 1913, in Roff, Okla., he moved to the Margaret community with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Bradford, still make their home there.

Mr. Bradford was married to Miss Lorene Bowman of Vernon on October 5, 1935 in Frederick, Okla. They made their home at Margaret, until moving to Crowell after he was elected Sheriff. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Crowell Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Gerald Bradford of Odessa and Ronald Freeman Bradford of Beaumont; one daughter, Jo Nell Bradford of the home; his parents; one brother, C.F. Bradford, Jr. of Slaton; two sisters, Mrs. L. E. Painter of Crowell and Mrs. Floyd Boyd of Slaton; and two grandchildren.
