J.L. "Buck" Buchanan, age 89 of Morganfield, KY died Monday, 8/18/14 at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. He was born December 16, 1924 to Jesse Lee & Rosa Buchanan. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganfield. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He had been a coal miner and had retired from B.F. Goodrich Chemicals in Calvert City, KY in 1985. He was also maintenance manager of the KY Sheriff Ranch from 1986-1991 and worked at Marshall County Recycling from 1996-1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Coleman, Raymond, and Paul Buchanan.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Thurs 8/21/14 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, KY. Rev. Tim Leadingham will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellow Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wed at the funeral home where Masonic rites will be conducted at 6:00 PM. Visitation 9AM until service time on Thurs. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or St. Anthony's Hospice.
