COLUMBIA - Anita Anderson Folsom , 95, wife of John Roy Folsom , passed away peacefully and gracefully surrounded by family and caregivers on August 17, 2014. She was born on April 30, 1919 in Ware Shoals, SC to George Holland and Nita Hunter Anderson and lived in Greenville through her teenage years.

She graduated from Furman University where she met John Roy, the love of her life. They were married on October 18, 1941 and at the time of her death, they were acknowledged to have been married longer than any other South Carolina couple.

She deeply loved her Lord and was a devoted member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church since moving to Columbia in 1961. While she served in several volunteer capacities at the church, her primary interest was working with the Altar Guild. She had previously been a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville since her childhood.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Miriam Wood; her son-in-law, Guy M. "Bo" Tate; and her grandson, Cameron Morris Tate.

Always a lady and a person of very strong principles, she was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother and passed her values along to all family members.
