Rex E. Taute
Born May 19, 1955, age 59, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014.

He is survived by his daughter; Carey Lockhart; his son-in-law, John Lockhart; his granddaughter, Sairyn Lockhart; his mother, Hazel Taute; his sisters, Donna Gober and husband Joe, Lisa Taute and husband Mark Smith; his brother, Mark Taute and his nieces and nephews; Hannah and Tyler Smith, Chris Gober and wife Josselyn, Kim Cordova and husband Michael. He also leaves behind other loving family members and friends. Rex was raised in Cedar Crest and was a graduate of Manzano High School.
He became a well-known, well-respected water well driller, continuing the family business Earl and Sons Drilling, started by his father, the late Earl Taute. He was full of spirit and adventure spending his free time in his younger days on motorcycles and later boating at nearby lakes. Rex also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with endless stories to tell. As a true dog lover, he was always with one of his best friends whether it be on the jobsite, a hunting trip, or in his boat.

He was also frequently seen taking his dogs for a Sunday hamburger. Rex pursued and attained his lifelong dream of retiring on the water and becoming an avid sailor when he moved to Guatemala in 2011 and rebuilt his own sailboat.

Services will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.
