Mary, who was likely named after her grandmother Hoover (her mother's mother), was the first born of John & Nancy (Hoover) Glaze's 14 children. She married Thomas (William Thomas) Wood, in Bedford County, Tennessee (where the early marriage records were destroyed) likely between 1820 and 1822. He died sometime before the 1830 census was taken, leaving her with four sons. When Mary, who was sometimes called "Polly", died, she was living in the Hoover's Gap community and it is very possible---though at this point, not verifiable---that she and her husband were buried in this very cemetery. If they were not, it was most definitely somewhere in the Hoover's Gap area.
