Transcripts of Vermont *burial* records have lead some contributors to suggest George passed away in Williston, Vermont. Burial records indicate *burial place*, not the place of death.
On October 10, 1862, George mustered in as a Private, in Company F, 13th Regiment, Vermont volunteers. He mustered out July 21, 1863. George re-enlisted, and on January 4, 1864, he mustered in as a Private in Company E of the 1st Vermont Cavalry. He was reported missing in action on May 12 at Spotsylvania, and died of wounds received in battle on June 13, 1864.
