Dorothy Marie Wilkes, 64, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, in a Sylva hospital. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late James Silas Green and Eula Shepherd Green. She had worked at Whitley Products for 25 years, and also had worked at Grandview Manor and restaurants. She was a wonderful wife and mother, her family was very precious to her. She was a very kind and loving lady and always wanted to help others. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Olive Hill Gospel Chapel.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ellis Wilkes; two sons, Wesley Wilkes and wife Vickie and Mitchell Wilkes and wife Nina all of Franklin; one sister, Florence Bulla of Lexington, N.C.; one brother, Jim Green and wife Janie of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 25, in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry Bowman officiating. Burial was in Wilkes Cemetery.
