Elaine Reeder Layton, age 91, a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many passed away at her home on March 15, 2002. Elaine was born in Brigham City, November 9, 1910, to Martin L. and Ella Valentine Reeder.

She graduated from Box Elder High School and Utah State University. She was a high school teacher who taught English, Modern Dance, and Phys. Ed. She married Myron M. Layton July 2, 1938 in Boise, ID (solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Feb. 1, 1966). Elaine loved shopping for clothing which she called "pinching the cloth." She loved children of all ages, being outdoors, visiting with her family and friends, and always stopped to smell the roses.

She is survived by two sons, Gary K. (Christine), SLC, and Douglas B. (Judy), Seattle, WA; six grandchildren, Tina (Kyle) Talbot, ID, Kathy (Michael) Smith, Kristin (Mathew) Cosman, and Geoffrey Layton, all SLC, Michael Layton and Lisa (Michael) Callan, Seattle, WA; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Mikey Callan; a sister, Ethel (Paul) Taylor, Ogden; brother, Howard (Doris) Reeder, Centerville; many nieces and nephews. Also her dearest friend who she taught in high school and became her "Arizona daughter", Carol (Mike) Early and family. Our deepest appreciation to another close friend and caregiver, Pilar Robles De Castillo of Peru, whom we love very much.

Preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Wilma Jacobs and Nina Reeder; four brothers, Maurice, Wallace, Harold, and Frank.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2002, 1 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, where friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Elaine will be missed by all who knew and loved her. "We Love you Mother."
