Charles 'Charlie' Dean Holbrook

Charles 'Charlie' Dean Holbrook, 84, Jonesboro, died at 8:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 14, 2014, in Wesleyan Health Care, Marion, Indiana. He was born in Warsaw, Indiana, to Angus Fred and Mamie Fern (Grubbs) Holbrook. He married Shirley Ann Jones on January 25, 1975, and she survives.

Charlie was a graduate of Columbia City High School and continued his education to receive his Associates Degree in banking. He retired from Star Financial after serving 31 years as cashier. After retirement, he worked for 12 years as Controller at McClure Oil. Charlie also worked as a clerk-treasurer for the city of Jonesboro and was an accountant for Drudge Screw Products in Warsaw, Indiana.

Charlie was actively involved in his community and was a former member of the Columbia City Masonic Lodge, Mizpah Shriners, and Columbia City Elks #1417. He loved to fish, play shuffleboard, walk, build birdhouses, and work in the yard. He also loved to sing and, as a result, belonged to the Barbershop Chorus in Marion, Indiana.

In addition to his wife, surviving are sons, Gary Mark (Donna) Holbrook, Macy, Indiana, Jason Wayne (Jennifer) Dickerson, Dallas, Georgia; daughters, Cheryl (Don) Bolding, Brunswick, Georgia, Julie Ann (Jim) Argerbright, Columbia City, Indiana, Brandy Elaine (Keith) Croucher, Marion, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn (Frank) Shenfield and Donna Jean Targgart of Columbia City, Indiana; mother-in-law, Frances Jones, Gas City, Indiana.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Angus Fred Holbrook and Mamie Fern (Grubbs) Holbrook White; brother-in-law, Everett Targgart; and father-in-law, Garrett Jones.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 5-8:00 p.m., at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, Indiana.

Funeral Service is at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Charles McCallum officiating.
