Ione P. Marek of Big Rapids, Michigan, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born May 9, 1923 in Morley, the daughter of Samuel and Pearl (Lint) Chipman. She was 91 years old.
Ione attended the Big Rapids First Baptist Church. She helped out at home on the family farm and was employed by Ferris State University in food service until she retired. Ione greatly enjoyed going for rides with her girlfriends and stopping for dinner along the way.
She is survived by her loving family; three sons; James (Rose) Marek of Texas, David (Patricia) Marek of Hersey and Stephen (Barbara) Marek of Big Rapids; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Delores Clark and Sue Scharp.
Ione was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry J. Marek on May 19, 1994; one brother and seven sisters.
A memorial gathering is being planned for a later date.
