Rosetta was orphaned before 1880. In 1880 she is found as a 14 year old Servant in the household of Charles and Mary (Hopkins) Boswell.
Her first husband was neighbor William Henry Lawson. They married Nov. 3, 1886, in Metropolis, Massac Co., IL. William was the son of Samuel and Margaret (Rider) Lawson. They spent most of their lives in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY where William was a merchant and grocer. They were married 52 years when William died in 1938.
They had no children.
Rosetta then married her childhood friend, Rev. Marion “Bud” Hayes, on Feb. 25, 1944 in Paducah, KY. Marion was the son of Lewis Eden Hayes and Susan Elizabeth Middleton of Cunningham, KY. The attached photo was taken shortly after their marriage.
Rosetta died at age 83 in the English Nursing Home in Paducah, KY. She is buried here next to her sister Ida Belle Goode Ross. Rev. Hayes died 1959 in Los Angeles, CA.
PLEASE NOTE - There is a tombstone for Rosetta Lawson in the Harris Cemetery, Paducah, McCracken County, KY, next to Rosetta's 1st husband William Henry Lawson, but Rosetta was not buried there.
