Sylvia Olson, age 81, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Wednesday (September 5th) at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (September 8th) at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine.
Sylvia Agnes Olson was born on May 18, 1926 in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Carl and Anna (Gunderson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Sylvia graduated from Mentor High School in 1945 and then went to teacher’s training in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. She taught rural school near McIntosh for one year. After that she worked in local homes doing cleaning and other household duties.
She was a quiet person but enjoyed company. She kept herself busy crocheting, doing embroidery, working on all kinds of puzzles and reading books. She enjoyed going out to eat and going to the relatives homes for various get-togethers. She entered the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine in June of 2006.
Sylvia went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center at the age of 81 years.
She is survived by many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Olson; and one brother, Clarence.
Pallbearers will be Reg Galland, Bruce Galland, Dale Galland, Gordon Erickson, Robert Wolf, and Jack Sveningson.
Organist will be Marilyn Arness and soloist will be Grace Lee.
