My Mom Helen Lindo was a very Special person, born in Hawaii. Born and raised on Fort & Queen St.in Kakaako,near Waipahu,on the island of Oahu. Her parents were: Antone P. and Mary J Lindo,The family name is really Perry, but another family in Hawaii was Perry also, and the mail kept getting mixed up, so the court said my grandfather to take his mothers maiden name which was Lindo. Some of them went back to Perry when they arrived in the states, some stayed Lindo.My mom was 18 when she and family came over on a freighter from Hawaii.She worked at the Cotton Mill near 23rd Ave in Oakland. She married my Dad(Andrew Comella)On May 13,1933 at St.Anthonys on 17th ave,after marrying they resided downstairs at 1632 l8th Ave.Oakland,my grandparents home. Then moved to first home on Auseon Ave, Oakland, then in her late 60's they bought another home in San Leandro.
She had two daughters, Veronica (Ronnie Stempien),and myself
Suzanne(Meeker)My Mama was the Best Portugesse and Italian cook ever.
