Maria Helena Zaffuto was born in 1958 to Joseph Louis Zaffuto and Betty Louise Bengert. She had 3 siblings, Patricia A, Joseph L Jr and Brenda J. She was raised in Metairie, graduating from Grace King High School.

She had a great talent for art and language, which served her well throughout her professional and private life. She had many loves: art, creativity, music, animals, video games and most especially, her children.

Maria was employed as a typesetter at the Slidell Sentry News. Later, she was a dedicated graphics illustrator and editor at the Naval Ocean Research and Development Activity (NORDA), U.S. Dept of Defense, Dept of the Navy. Following her retirement, she opened her own business, Southern Artistic Veils, hand designing wedding veils made with vintage lace and intricate bead work.

She loved all things Halloween and created an elaborate spook-house in her garage every year to the delight of the children and adults in her neighborhood.

Maria was married to Larry Joseph Monjure Sr with whom she had one son. She was then married to Barry Banker with whom she had one daughter.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Brenda. She is survived by her sister, Patricia, son L J (fiancee Jenny), daughter Barrett, niece Melissa and special friends, Kevin and Kelly and John.

Services at L A Muhleisen and Son Funerla Home on 19 Aug 2014 with interment following in St Louis Cemeter # 3.
