Born to Ansel H. and Kate R. Sanders, the youngest of three, Mary grew up in Salt Lake City.
She attended East High School and met our father in 1947 on a blind date. He proposed to her on that first date and she said "yes!" They were married in January, 1948, and welcomed twins later that year, and three more children in years to come.
Our mother was a homemaker and she loved all of us so very well. She was always trying to get people to eat, and no one ever left her home hungry.
Our mother showed us selflessness, the natural beauty of the world and kindness toward all the underdogs out there. She was extraordinary and we will never forget her.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings in the Sandy area.
She had a beautiful voice and would sing for many occasions, and loved playing the piano with our father accompanying her on his violin.
She is survived by all of her children, Donald, David, Ann, Barbara Cait, and Barry (Jihan); brother, Bill; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved beyond measure. She was preceded in death by Ross, her husband of forty-nine years; her sister, Lillian; and her grandson, Nicholas.
A viewing will be held at Stark's Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held in the Midvale City Cemetery on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.
