Marion was the youngest daughter of Henry and Ida Spear. She graduated from the St. Louis Library School in 1919 and was a suffragette, fighting for women's right to vote. She outlived all of her siblings and in line with her commitment to education, she donated her body to science upon her death in 1989 at the age of 92.
