Roger H. House, 76, MSGT, USAF Retired, of Melbourne, Fla. and formerly of South Bristol, passed away on July 20 at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.

He was the son of the late Elbridge and Shirley House. He was born in South Bristol on Dec. 25, 1934 and was a 1953 graduate of South Bristol High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball.

He enlisted in the USAF on Jan. 4, 1954 and completed his basic training at Sampson AFB in New York and then went on to air craft maintenance school at Sheppard AFB in Texas. After his training he was assigned to Japan for two years. Upon his return home from Japan he married Natalie Genthner in the fall of 1956.

He spent 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired in June of 1975. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was with the 12 special operations involved in the Agent Orange spraying. He also was an Air Force recruiter in Syracuse, N.Y. for four years. He was highly decorated with three Accommodation medals, two Vietnam Cross of Gallantry medals, three Unit Citations, and a Meritorious Service Medal.

After his retirement from the Air Force he and his family moved back to Damariscotta where he was employed with John Hancock Life, a guard at Maine Yankee, and 14 years with The First National Bank of Damariscotta.

After his full retirement he purchased a 36 foot motor home and spent his summers in Maine and winters in Florida. He fully enjoyed his motor home and traveling the different states. He moved permanently to Melbourne, Fla. in 2003.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Reginald and Roland.

He leaves his children Kim House of Boothbay Harbor, Karen Prock and husband Todd of Jefferson and Chris House of Guam; granddaughter, Jessica Snow of Boothbay Harbor; sister, Frances Mank of Waldoboro; and brother, Richard of Oceanside, Cal.

At Roger's request there will be no public funeral services. A private family burial will be held at the Walpole Cemetery where Roger will be buried with his parents and two brothers.
