Amelia Blackwell Ward, 69, went to be with her Lord and her late husband, Burgess Stephen Ward Sr., from her residence on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007.

She was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Burgess S. Ward Jr. and his girlfriend, Kathy Heatherly, and her daughter, Taylor; one daughter, Jeannie Ward and her husband, Allen Tesnar, of Saluda; one brother, Bud Blackwell of South Carolina; four sisters, Effie Guice of Saluda, Dorothy Belcher of Dana, Aurelia Ward of Zirconia and Dooder Sexton of Saluda; four grandchildren, Eric Garber, Kelly Hill and Bryan Chandler of Saluda and Amanda Maybin of Zirconia; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Hembree officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence for those wishing to offer condolences.

Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
