Ira Edwin Cockerell married Miss Liza Ann Lamond in 1895.

Ira Cockerell was living in Seymour in October 1878 coming here with his parents. The family located on land six miles south of Seymour, Texas on the Brazos River, later moving to Seymour.

In September 1895, he married Miss Liza Lemond in Baylor county, Texas. After he and his wife married, they lived on the old Hash Knife ranch and later he worked for Charles T. Porter. He worked for the Waggoner Ranch until his retirement. About eight years were spent at Electra before the couple moved back to Seymour. There was one break in Mr. Cockerell's work as a cowboy. He became associated with Parks McLarty in the Palace Drug Store in Seymour. Mr. Cockerell owned and operated the Baylor Drug Store for a few years.

Survived by his wife; two children - R.Seth Cockerell and Mrs. Alma Holder; four grandchildren.

He was a member of the Methodist Church. Services were held in the Methodist Church with burial in the Woodmen cemetery.

Pallbearers were cowboys from the Waggoner Ranch.
