Emery and Pearl were farmers living in Maquon Township on the Walter Newcomb Dikeman Farm. They had cattle, chickens, ducks and geese. Their yard and house was always neat and well taken care of. There were lots of flowers in the yard and a big garden. I remember Grandpa Emery had two collie dogs. One was named "Bob". He would sit in the back yard and shoot sparrows and chew "Key". Emery liked his beer.

Emery and Pearl retired to a brick house in Farmington.

Things I remember about Grandpa Emery and Grandma Pearl:
Good farmers. Had Case and Oliver tractors.
Two collie dogs, named Bob and Laddie.
Drove a new black Frazer car and later drove Buicks.
Grandma had a driver's license, but couldn't drive.
Had neat garden. Once grew peanuts and cotton.
Kitchen full of violets.
When they remodeled house.
Pennies embedded in sidewalk, grandkid's handprints in sidewalk.
Little bed on the backporch.
Large hay crews, eating dinner on back porch.
Fun to stay overnight. Good stories.
Halloween party at Oakland country school.
Big meals.
Gathering eggs. Light bulbs in hen nests.
Putting up hay with hay forks and hay rope.
Fleas in the feeder building.
Giant goldfish in the horse tank.
Walking to the movies in Farmington.
Watching wrestling on snowy black and white television.
Good conversations
Lots of prizes won on tip boards.
Grandma in her sunbonnet and long sleeves in the hot summertime, working in her garden. Beautiful rose bushes
Stopping for coffee at Grandma's
