Funeral services for James Leland Longino, 43, whose death from pneumonia on Feb. 6, came as a shock to his many friends here, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, from the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Luther Longino. Dr. John Foster, Shreveport, and Dr. N.E Joyner, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Minden, officiated.

Mr. Longino was a graduate of Southwestern university at Georgetown, Texas, where he starred in sports, particularly football. He served with distinction during the World war as a lieutenant in the air corps overseas. Following his foreign service he engaged in the banking business in Minden and later was a member of the state highway police department. During the administration of the late Gov. O.K. Allen he served three years as his personal secretary at the mansion. Shortly following the death of Governor Allen he was transferred at his own request to the Shreveport office of the supervisor of public accounts where his services proved extremely valuable.

Surviving, besides the widow, are his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Luther Longino, Minden; two daughters, Miss Jean Longino, who is attending Gulf Park college, Gulfport, Miss., and Miss Mary Lynn Longino, both of Minden; a sister, Mrs. E.L.
