He came to America with his parents when six weeks old, locating at Kleapoo, Ill., where he grew to manhood and married Ella Mulvaney September 11, 1884. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys. His wife and 1 girl and one boy preceeded him in death.
His wife died at Elyria September 29, 1908; Jennie died in infancy and James H. September 5, 1920, being 23 years old at the time of his death.
He came to Valley county in March 1903 with his family and located at Elyria, later moving to North Loup, but the last four years living in Ord.
His second marriage to Mrs. Emma Woolhisser took place at North Loup May 2, 1915.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Roy Gray of Akron, Colo., Mrs. Jack Brown of Ord and John and Robert of Ord, also four sisters, Mrs. Mary Fyre of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Francis Ives, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. John Harding, Laura, Ill., and Mrs. John Feeze, Sheffield, Iowa.
He was a kind husband and a loving father, a friend to all who knew him.
