"Sadie L. Cox, 85, of 409 34th St. NE, a Cedar Rapids resident since 1940, formerly of Van Buren County, died Tuesday at Crestview Acres Care Center following a brief illness. Born March 5, 1896, in Van Buren County, she was married to Alonzo C. Cox on Dec. 5, 1912, at Memphis, Mo. He died in 1974. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Marjorie Clark of Cedar Rapids and Ethelyn Downing of West Des Moines; one son, Dick of Decatur, Texas; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Leroy E. Bauman of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. today and at the chapel after noon Thursday. The casket will be closed at 12:45 p.m. Thursday"
