CAPT Patrick R. Mueller, United States Navy, passed away suddenly on August 6th, 2014 at Yokota AB, Japan. At the time of his death CAPT Mueller was serving as Director of Command, Control, Communications & Computers for United States Forces Japan.

CAPT Mueller was born in Buffalo, NY on April 26th, 1959. He enlisted in the Navy in 1977 after graduating from Jefferson High School in Monroe, MI, and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer before being commissioned first as a Limited Duty Officer and later as a Line Officer. He served in various capacities both ashore and at sea while stationed in Maine and Virginia, and then served with the Naval Special Warfare Command in San Diego, CA before being selected to command the Naval Telecommunications Station in Jacksonville, FL. After this command he was promoted below-the zone to CAPT and assigned as Director of Communications for Carrier Strike Group Nine aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, stationed in Bremerton, WA. Following this assignment CAPT Mueller attended the Naval War College before beginning his final tour of duty in Japan in 2013.

He was a decorated veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and one of fewer than 200 people awarded the distinction of Honorary Frogman in the last 50 years.

CCAPT Mueller was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Margaret Marie Mueller of Monroe.
