On August 13, 2014, Margaret Eileen Madsen Hodges died unexpectedly at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Mom was the daughter of Loyal Mathew Madsen and Lenora Eileen Madsen; born on December 22, 1932 . She had 3 older brothers, Bob Keith and Darwin, and was followed by her sister Kathy, her brother Kenneth, and another brother Pete.

When she was little, her dad always called her "Dewey" because when her mom or dad asked the kids to do something, she would always say "Margie do," Margie do." This willingness to serve stayed with her.

Mom attended Rigby High School where she was a cheerleader and a participant in many sports. In her senior year, while she was working at Idaho Drug, she met Stan Olson who being handsome and smart, swept her off her feet. They were married January, 1951. To this union Maralyn Eileen was born November 2, 1951, and Brett Stanford was born May 6th, 1958.

Shortly after Brett was born Mom and Dad divorced. She met John "Jay" Ahrendsen while working at the Hatch Clinic and for a second time she was swept off her feet. They were married on November 1, 1959. John Tylan was born on July 20, 1960 and Robert Sid on June 8, 1961. They later divorced.

She met Everett Hodges in 1970; they were married on March 22, 1971. She brought her four children to the marriage and Everett brought his two sons Hal and Kim.

Mom began working for Sybil Ferguson at the Diet Center. She gained the knowledge to operate several franchises in other states.
Mom served as Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society President. And felt that serving others was one of her choicest blessings. Mom was generous and always "giving unto others" whether financially or in her ability to listen and comfort others.

Mom was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed feeding her family and many friends. She truly loved to have her family come "Home for the Holidays" and sit down to a beautifully decorated table with delicious food.

Mom's life centered on her family and the gospel. One of her greatest blessings was doing temple sealings every week for several years. After Everett died, Mom continued to live in Teton. Later she moved into Pine Brook Assisted Living. She loved the staff and they loved her. Several of them visited at the hospital. We are very grateful that they took such great care of our mom.

Mom has one daughter Maralyn Olson and 3 sons Brett Olson and his wife Carol, Ty Ahrendsen, and Rob Ahrendsen with his wife Carol. She has 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren in whom she delights.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and her son Ty.

Graveside services are Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
