PERRYTON — Charley Henry Stumpf, 91, of Perryton died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Duncan, Okla.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Community Worship Center in Perryton with the Rev. Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Perryton.

Charley was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Pond Creek, Okla., to Harry Phillip Stumpf and Minnie Viola Wilson Stumpf.

He married Beulah Gipson on July 21, 1945 in Beaver, Okla. He enjoyed telling everyone he talked to that he had been married for 69 years and he thought it was going to last.

Charley was an Army veteran of World War II. After leaving the military, he worked for Shackelford Oil Co., where he retired after 38 years. Refusing to retire, he drove a school bus for the Perryton school district for eight years and then decided to return to his roots and farm until his health forced him to stay home.

Charley was longtime member of Community Worship Center in Perryton, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was very involved with the church youth group, driving the church bus to numerous activities. He was known to many as Pampaw.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Stumpf, Dean Stumpf, Lloyd Sword, Arvid Sword, Earl Sword and Carl Sword; his sisters, Ruby Scott, Sylvia Gipson and Sadie Johnson; two sons-in-law, George Philley and Gary Waters; and a great-grandson, Chris Collums.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Stumpf; three daughters, Jean Harper and husband Gary of Perryton and Janice Waters and Judy Philley, both of Duncan, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Sword of Claremont, Okla.; and a brother-in-law, Jack Gipson of Perryton.
