Richard R. "Dick" Covert, 65, of Carthage, died Thursday, January 11, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Quincy, the son of Otis and Charlotte Rampley Covert. On Dec. 26, 1964, he married Elnora Glenn in Bevier, Mo.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, David Covert of LaHarpe, and Ronald (Beth) Covert of LaHarpe; five grandchildren, Joshua, Brian, Matthew, Kaela, and Krista; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Georgia Plowman; and one infant brother, Ronald Keith.
He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, a member of AMVETS, Trench Rats, D.A.V. and was a social member of the Carthage V.F.W.
Services were held Monday, January 15, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton, with the Rev. Lester Beaman officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church of Carthage or a charity of the donor's choice.
