Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Friday, January 12, 1973, page 12:
  Funeral services for John H. Wilhelm, 49, of Route 1, Troy, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Untied Methodist Church at Troy.
  Mr. Wilhelm died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland. He had been ill a year.
  A native and lifelong resident of Jarvis Township, he had been township road commissioner since his election in April, 1971, and served on the Triad School District Board of Education from 1958 to 1967.
  He was born Jan. 13, 1923, the son of Mrs. Frances Harris Wilhelm and the late Henry Wilhelm. He was married to LaVera Ballinger on Jan. 15, 1944, in Collinsville. She survives.
  Also surviving are a son, 3 daughters, one grandchild, and sisters Mrs. Fred (Sue) Wopat and Mrs. Oscar (Agnes) Helmkamp, both of Edwardsville, and Mrs. Ed (Marge) Strickland of Santa Clara, Calif.
  Mr. Wilhelm was a member of the United Methodist Church in Troy, the Masonic Lodge of Marine and the Scottish Rite group in Belleville.
  Friends may call at the Edwards Funeral Home in Troy until 11 a.m. Saturday and from noon until the service in the church.
  The Rev. Gary Scheller will officiate.
  Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy.
  There will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Harold Gaertner, Ed Knebel, Jack Rees, Richard Gilomen, Bob Fohr and Gus Sutter, all members of the Masonic Lodge of Marine.
