"THERESA JACOBSON
Theresa J. (TJ.) Jacobson, 88, of Whitewater, died March 24, 2004, at Fairhaven Residential Facility, Whitewater. The former Theresa Jane Charles was born at Rice Lake on Feb. 7, 1916, the daughter of George R. and Inez (Cowles) Charles. She married Stuart E. Jacobson on April 12, 1946, at the Bassett House.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitewater, worked in the Sunday school for years, was a member of the church choir, was a circle leader and member of Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Emerson Club of Women's Federation and served on the board of directors of that federation. She also belonged to the county and state Retired Teachers organizations and Sigma Sigma Sigma Alumni. T.J. graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College in 1938, having gone from kindergarten through college in the same building (Old Main). She taught elementary grades in Wakefield, Mich., Beloit and Whitewater, where she retired in 1981.
She is survived by two sons and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Stuart. Funeral services were held March 29 at the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, with the Rev. Glenn Skatrud and the Rev. Herb Saunders participating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater. Olsen Funeral Home, Whitewater, assisted the family with arrangements."
