John Patrick Shelley, age 89, a resident of Westlake Village since 1975, passed away at home surrounded by family Monday August 11, 2014. Jack, as he was known to many, was born February 11, 1925 at St. John's Hospital in Queens, New York the son of Patrick and Anna Shelley. His two sisters Mary Schildknecht and Patricia Carberry preceded him in death. He attended Immaculate Conception School and La Salle Academy in New York. He graduated from Manhattan College Bachelor of Electrical Engineering 1948. He maintained his Professional Engineering license in New York, Ohio, and California. Employers included LeBlond Machine Tool Co., Avon Products Inc. and Syska & Hennessy. After retirement he worked part time for local businesses. John was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving as an Aviation Electricians Mate and was stationed in California. He was honorably discharged June 16, 1946. John married Frances M. Johnson September 5, 1953 at St. Bernard's in White Plains, New York. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Frances J. Shelley, his seven children Anne, Thomas, Maureen, Daniel, Francis, Patrick and Joseph. His son John Francis predeceased him on July 8, 1955. John had six grandsons Richard III and Brian Sleeman, Alex, Michael, and Daniel Shelley, and Sean Shelley. He had one great-grandson Richard Sleeman IV.
