Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Ellaroy and Grace Lee Ellison Coker, he was owner of Coker's Hardware and was a Baptist.
Mr. Coker began his career in 1958 working at Corley's Meats before founding Coker's Meats and Processing and later Salvage Sales. He was a lifelong farmer at Circle C Farms and founder of Coker's Hardware.
Surviving are his wife, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley Melvin and Mimmie Coker and Rusty and Susan Coker of Pelzer; sister, Minnie Joyce Norwood of Simpsonville; brother, Roy Earl Coker of Pelzer; and granddaughters, Mrs. Bryan (Stacey) Bagwell, Megan Coker, Brittany Coker and Michelle Coker.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Nadena Lynn Coker, and brothers, Donald and Lewis Coker.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Charles Smith and the Rev. Stan Candler officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will be at the home of Rusty Coker, 248 Richey Road, Pelzer, and will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Gray Mortuary.
