Vincent G. "Bubbs" Irwin II, 57, of Pen Argyl died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, May 14.

He was born on March 29, 1947, in Springfield Gardens, Long Island, N.Y., and was the son of the late Vincent G. and Averil (Stewart) Irwin Sr.

He and his wife, the former Linda D. (Morris), celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on April 22.

He worked as a material handler at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Tobyhanna for 25 years until the spring of this year.

He was a 1965 graduate of Bangor High School.

He served with the U.S. Army Military Police during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid fan of all youth sports, especially the Wind Gap Athletic Association, soccer and basketball, and Plainfield Athletic Association, softball.

He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Bangor.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father DeNisco Council in Bangor, where he participated in many council events. He was the founder of the Junior Knights of Columbus, Columbian Squires in Bangor. He was honored by the Knights of Columbus in the spring of this year for founding the Columbian Squires and also honored in 1992 by being awarded with Knight of the Year honors. He is a Fourth Degree member of the Fourth-Degree Knight Council in Stroudsburg.

He was a 25-year member and former Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 36, in Roseto, where he was honored with the Order of the Arrow Award in Scouting. He also formerly served on the board of trustees of the Home Association of the troop.

He was member of the Wind Gap Ambulance Social Corps and a volunteer at the Phoebe Slate Belt Nursing and Rehab Center for 10 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Vincent G. Irwin II, husband of Sue, of Pen Argyl; two sisters, Janet Cardy, wife of Lew, of Harleysville, and Averil Realo, wife of Al, of Bangor; his two beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Hannah; and his mother-in-law, Lucy Morris of Pen Argyl.
