Virgil W. Dawson, 91, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Virgil was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Lillian to J.R. and J. Elizabeth Dawson. He was a member of Stinnett Assembly of God. Virgil worked for several school districts and had farmed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Dawson.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Palmer and husband Troy of Cordell, Okla.; a son, Danny Dawson of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Scott Palmer, Brent Dawson, Lane Dawson and Chase Dawson; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Palmer, Kennedy Palmer, Grayson Palmer, Blaine Teague, Teagan Dawson, Lennon Dawson, Hunter Dawson and Sloan Dawson.

The family suggests memorials be made to Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York, PCAWNY, PO Box 24580, Rochester, NY 14624-0580.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the funeral home.
