There is no grave marker found for Margaret Harrell Brown in New Fairfield Cemetery. However, this entry is based on a genealogical notebook written before 1929 by Portia Showalter Everett. I will post a photo to support this entry. This handwritten page lists Margaret as a daughter of Chester and Betsy Harrell, which is correct. The small print below her name says "Buried in Sims". When Sims Cemetery was moved to this new location to make way for Brookville Lake in the late 1960's there were numerous unmarked graves found, so it is probable that Margaret's is one of them. Following Margaret's death, her husband remarried and had more children while living in Wayne County, Indiana. He is still listed as living in the 1860 census. Portia's notes verify that Margaret was a daughter of pioneer Chester Harrell and wife Betsy Stevens. At least two of Margaret's siblings are in Sims Cemetery - Edmund Harrell and Jane Harrell Buckley (my gg grandmother).

The birth and death dates for Margaret are best estimates. Margaret gave birth to her last child in 1828 and Isaac remarried in 1834, so Margaret must have died in that time. If anyone can offer more exact dates or information, I will be glad to update this entry. There are many trees on ancestry.com that list an 1881 death date for Margaret. Does anyone have PROOF of a death date for Margaret Harrell Brown?
